Transformation Arnhems Buiten
Since February 2012 master RMIT students have done research into the possibilities for transforming a number of buildings at Arnhems Buiten. They translated their findings into a spatial design, taking into account the challenges in transforming existing buildings and contemporary spatial issues. The design resulted in a large variety of possible transformations, including homes for the elderly, an alternative to the DNV KEMA headquarters, an urban sports center, a meditation center, a movement and health center, a train station for Arnhems Buiten and a school for physically handicapped children.

Research presentation and public debate
In September 2012 the RMIT students will test the hypothesis of their design. They will present their final conclusions and recommendations for the transformation of the buildings at Arnhems Buiten on 4th October during a public debate. Several experts and professionals in the field of transformation and redevelopment will discuss the students’ plans. The debate will be opened by Jacob Fontijne (COO Benelux, Middle East & Africa DNV KEMA).
